I’ll have to be open with you and admit I am not a tomato fan. Never have been and don’t think I ever will be. With as much as I love to cook and work with food you would think I would love all food. Swiss steak is a recipe that my mom made all the time growing up. It uses a cheap steak, and it’s easy to make. I’ll have to admit I refused to even try this recipe because of the tomatoes, but my mom got me to try it, and I LOVED it. Yep this tomato-hater loved this swiss steak recipe filled with tomatoes.

It wasn’t until I was older that I discovered it’s just raw tomatoes that I dislike. As long as they are cooked and seasoned like they are in this recipe, I like them! For this Slow Cooker Swiss Steak I used a round steak with seasonings and tomatoes. Slow Cooker Swiss Steak

Ingredients
  • Flour, ½ cup
  • Garlic powder, ½ tsp
  • Pepper, ½ tsp
  • Round steak, 2 lbs
  • Olive oil, 2 tbsp
  • Onions, diced, 1½ cup
  • Stewed tomatoes, 1 can (28 oz)
  • Beef broth, 1 can (10 oz)
  • Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbsp
Instructions
  1. Mix together flour, garlic powder, and pepper. Place steak in flour mix and coat. Heat olive oil in a skillet and brown steak on both sides. Place in the slow cooker with remaining ingredients.
  2. Cook on high for 2-3 hours or low for 5-6 hours.
